this is how I got started in Don's Auto Parts back in 1980 the gallon married to was born in South Dakota and an only child so we had to go back there quite a lot at least two three times a year and kind of straighten things out they were counting on Kathy to be close to her so anyway well they were visiting I had nothing to do I wasn't you know part of the thing growing up so I happen to notice it the next door neighbor had a pastor full of old classic her old junk cars what happened is the people in the city when they bought a new car they couldn't get rid of the old one he let him park the car on his property and so I went over there and asked him how much you would charge to take some parts off because I was kind of an old car parts and he indicated that he think about it show him what I wanted and he would be right he would be okay with it and so I bought a Apple box full of parts off and then I think I paid 10 $15 for it went back to LA and sold them for big dollars like probably out of the boxing I may have got $2,000 I don't really remember how much it was a big markup what he was charging me a dollar for I was selling for 20 and that's how come I got started in the internet I was just dealing and swap me then I went on the internet and it got really big

You and Kathy visited her parents in South Dakota two or three times a year. During one of those visits, the neighbor’s pasture was full of old cars people had left behind when they bought new ones. You asked if you could pull parts, paid ten or fifteen dollars for an apple box of them, took them back to LA, and sold them at a big markup on swap meets. That was the start. Later it moved onto the internet and grew from there.
